In August 1986 Berkhamsted and Boxmoor Band and the Atlas Copco (Dacorum) Band, formerly the John Dickinson (Apsley) Band, amalgamated to form the Atlas Copco Band. Both bands were short of players and bycombining they strengthened their numbers and were able to retain the valuable sponsorship from Atlas Copco.

1988 ATLAS COPCO BAND

1988 marked the centenary of the Berkhamsted St Peters Band and the event was celebrated in the Civic Centre Berkhamsted where a short informal concert was followed by a buffet meal. Ex members of the band were invited and many old friendships were renewed.

A special cake was made for the occasion and the band’s President Mr. Bernard Kempster performed the cutting ceremony. Bernard was a member of the band for 61 years and was a tireless worker as a player, a committee member and also as a fund-raiser.
